As a part of the Rogue Valley Medical Center expansion and renovation project, Northwest Demolition was contracted for the removal of an existing parking structure, as well as the Center’s north wing. Northwest Demolition devised a detailed engineering plan to remove the attached three-story wing structure without disturbing the active medical operations occurring mere feet away from the demolition column line. Temporary shoring was installed along the main concrete girder, and the connecting beams were sawcut to divide the active hospital wing from the attached demolition site. The wing was then broken down into manageable pieces and brought to the ground, where additional downsizing and removal was completed.
This project highlights Northwest Demolition’s expertise in high risk demolition activities, as well as the flexibility to adapt operations to meet the needs of the client and site. Demolition activities on this congested worksite were completed without incident or impact to hospital operations.
