Northwest Demolition was contracted by Nutrien (formally Agrium) to perform a decommissioning analysis of the ammonia reformer infrastructure at their Kenai Alaska facility. This decommissioning assessment included an analysis of materials of construction including a materials quantity take-off. An analysis was performed to establish the preferred methodology for the infrastructure demolition including the separation task from the remaining plant. In addition, a financial analysis was performed producing an estimated net project cost. This included developing the project cost vs the value of the metals recycling. Included within the method analysis was an investigation into the environmental characteristics of the plant including the presence of asbestos and naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM). The NORM survey was conducted with a calibrated instrument.
