Northwest Demolition was awarded a contract to provide robotic services for the range clearance at Vieques Puerto Rico. This work required the remote operation of a multifunction excavator for the clearance of vegetation, excavation, target demolition and winching activities. Because of setback distances, operators were required to function from more than a mile away from the work site in some cases. A mobile operations command was used for the machine interface. This system included three 4k monitors that were able to view 5 different camera angles on the equipment. Due to the transmission distances, a beyond visual line of site (BVLOS) repeater system was used to insure solid communication between the command center and the equipment at the work site.

Remote controlled/Robotic work activities included: Vegetation mowing, berming, munitions demilitarization and deformation, winching of munitions from seabed, and former target demolition
